Seal-less pump breaks new ground
AxFlow is now distributing Pump Solutions Group™ (PSG) new design of seal-less pump, the EnviroGear®.
The EnviroGear is a durable, environmentally friendly positive displacement gear pump developed to compete where other seal-less (mag-drive) internal gear pumps cannot. Neither a standard magnetically coupled/ mechanically sealed, nor a traditional internal gear pump, EnviroGear is a reinvention of internal gear pump technology and is designed for the environmentally safe handling of both thin and hard-to-seal viscous liquids.
Comprising seven primary components – a magnet housing, containment canister, casing, rotor magnet assembly, idler gear, eccentric spindle and head – the pump’s design eliminates leakage and greatly reduces maintenance and environment costs.
Whereas traditional internal gear pumps support the rotor and idler gears using a performance inhibiting, one-sided support found in cantilevered load design, EnviroGear supports the rotor and idler gears at three crucial locations. Also, unlike traditional magnetically-coupled PD pumps which are designed with two fluid chambers separated by an adaptor plate, this new pump uses magnets mounted directly on to the rotor, thereby eliminating the adaptor plate and allowing for a single fluid chamber. This design enables the pump to handle fluids with high viscosities up to 50,000 cp while increasing the bearing life and cleanability.
AxFlow reports that the pump is suitable for a wide variety of industry sectors and fluid types including biofuel, adhesives, soaps, petrochemicals, lube oils, coatings and food stuffs.
Available in Ductile Iron, Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel, the EnviroGear range can accommodate temperatures between -40ºC and +260ºC, flow rates up to 45.5m³/hr and pressures up to 14 Bar. All models are interchangeable with up to 95% of currently available internal gear pumps and can be supplied with purpose-designed base plates.
