A change in management is imminent at Manchester-based measurement instrumentation specialists, Endress+Hauser Ltd. From 1 January 2012, Managing Director Hans-Peter Endress will hand over the management of the UK sales center to his deputy, David Newell. At the same time Hans-Peter’s eldest son, Steven Endress, will join the company.

After more than 30 years with Endress+Hauser UK – and 25 years as Managing Director – Hans-Peter Endress (64) will withdraw from the executive management with effect from 1 January 2012. He will continue with the company, which employs 200 people, as Chairman with special duties. Choosing David Newell as successor promises a smooth transition. The 60-year-old has worked for the sales center for over 25 years and has been in charge of Sales and Marketing since 2002. However, his most recent role has been as Deputy Managing Director.

“Hans-Peter and David have made a superb team for many years,” stresses Klaus Endress, CEO of the Endress+Hauser Group. “Under their leadership, the sales center has in many ways become a trailblazer – for example in customer services, automation solutions and energy monitoring. This is why I’m very happy with this succession arrangement.”

Founded in 1953 by Georg H Endress and Ludwig Hauser and established in the UK since 1968, Endress+Hauser has been fully owned by the Swiss Endress family since 1975. In 1995, Dr h.c. Georg H Endress passed the leadership of the company to his second eldest son, Klaus Endress, who is currently the Group”s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Now, on 1 January 2012, the first member of the shareholder family’s third generation will join the company. Steven Endress (32), Hans-Peter and Lynda Endress’ eldest son, graduated in business studies from the University of Coventry and later obtained an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from the University of Lancaster. In between, he gathered eight years of professional experience working in a number of industrial positions. His first challenge at Endress+Hauser in the UK will be in e-business.

“The shareholder family welcomes family members joining the enterprise. This strengthens the bonds between family and business,” says Klaus Endress. “I’m pleased that Steven has now taken this decision. My very best wishes accompany all three – Hans-Peter, David and Steven – in their new roles and in everything they tackle.”
