Bespoke Monitoring Cabinet For Waste Incineration Plant

Listen to this article

Reducing the environmental impact of waste incineration

When management of a waste-treatment plant wanted to modernize monitoring of key parameters, they turned to measurement an analysis expert SEKO for a tailored solution.

The plant’s processes include the incineration of waste, with electrochemical techniques used in order to limit the polluting effects of burning waste.

Designing a purpose-built solution

These electrochemical parameters – pH, redox and conductivity – are monitored at the waste plant’s outlet, where the operator wanted to locate an enclosed control cabinet to house all instrumentation.

SEKO, global expert in water treatment, measurement and analysis, was approached to design and manufacture a suitable enclosure in stainless steel for corrosion resistance and responded by combining its control system expertise with a bespoke cabinet solution.

Individual measurement of parameters

The main control unit consisted of a panel with three integrated Kontrol 500 single-parameter controllers. These would provide individual measurement and control of pH, redox and conductivity at the plant outlet.

Specifically designed for advanced water-treatment applications, Kontrol 500’s comprehensive data collection capacity combined with proportional and independent control outputs meant it was the perfect solution for this process.

Facilitating access to current and historical data

SEKO also integrated an autofiltration system designed to reduce maintenance requirement, while the system’s internal data logger allowed monetization of the measure. Users were also able to download information to USB and transfer it to the main data controller, which was especially useful due to the distance between the control cabinet and the main data controller.

“SEKO’s solution gave works management complete confidence in the quality of discharge water”

With ongoing parameter data at their fingertips, and historical records of process performance stored, the works management could have complete confidence in the quality of discharge water and compliance with legislation.

Another example of a SEKO solution helping customers achieve long-term, cost-effective improvements in their daily operations
